How effective is physical therapy for dizziness?

Does vestibular therapy work? After returning from a vacation, I have been experiencing dizziness. I'm getting motion sickness even when traveling in a car for less than 10 minutes. I can't travel to school or work without getting sick. What do I do? Will physical therapy help my symptoms?

1. It depends on what is the cause of your dizziness. If it is BPPV, this is usually a very correctable condition...often times in just one visit unless mulitiple semicircular canals are affected. If it's a central nervous system lesion such as a stroke or a more peripheral cause (such as a neuralgia), it's not as easy to predict and often times requires further diagnostic testing such as a VNG. I don't do vestibular rehab myself, so I cannot give you any more details, but a have a couple co-workers who focus on this. Good luck
